Have Your Cake And Eat It...

I love cake, I love the word cake, I love to look at beautiful cakes, and I absolutely adore wedding cakes. So why this cake obsession? I really can't explain it - perhaps I'm just a frustrated cake decorator at heart ~ who knows. 

But I do know that my cake obsession played a big role in the design process for the featured bridal shower invitation.

Barbie

 
What comes to mind when you think of Barbie?  

For me it was her dreamy Malibu Beach House, sensational shoe collection, divine dresses, chic sunglasses, peroxide ponytail, enviable eyelashes and of course let's not forget about that dashing Ken. 

My daughter Olivia received a Barbie house for Christmas and has been in Barbie heaven ever since. Of course, I have been having just as much fun reliving my Barbie days;dressing and undressing, selecting the perfect shoe for her many fabulous ensembles and then racing off to somewhere wonderful in her sassy purple convertible.   

All this fun reminded me of the real Barbie Malibu Dream House designed by Jonathan Adler to celebrate her 50th birthday.  Delicious colors, delightful details and a shoe closet to die for ~ all very dreamy indeed!

Sunday evening my husband and I found a babysitter and headed to the Michigan Theatre in downtown Ann Arbor. The restored 1928 movie theater was the perfect venue to see "Young Victoria" starring Emily Blunt.  I fell in love with everything ~  from the beautiful love story to the idyllic setting and of course the fabulous fashions.  

So, just in case you are on the fence about going to see this wonderful movie, I have included a few photos from the May 2009 issue of Vanity Fair that may change your mind.
