Today is Olivia's 6th birthday and cause for celebration!
Seven years ago Marc & I decided it was time to start a family and so began the year long, emotional journey to become parents. Olivia was born in Guatemala and lived the first 6 months of her life with a wonderful foster family who loved and cared for her during the process.
A process that was not for the faint of heart - classes, social workers, finger printing, background checks by the FBI, physicals, home visits - we jumped through every single hoop!
Eventually, our name finally made it to the top of the list and weeks later she was born - we were almost parents! We were allowed to visit her at 3 months and then had to leave her (yes that was traumatic for all of us) until the process was complete. After an excruciating three and half months of waiting, waiting and more waiting we received the call that she was ours, 100%! So, we booked a flight and four days later we were waiting in the lobby of our hotel for her anticipated arrival.
Dressed in yellow, she made her entrance, wide eyed and smiling!
She is one amazing, funny, loving, creative and happy little soul! We are so blessed!
So now we are celebrating her 6th birthday - she is our shining star and the love of our lives!
