I keep going to my refrigerator and staring at the 15lb turkey sitting on the top shelf and wondering what in the WORLD was I thinking when I volunteered to cook the turkey. Up until now I have easily skated through holiday after holiday avoiding this daunting task.
Usually, my mom, my mother-in-law, or aunt will joyfully claim the bird; and if I am hosting, I usually suggest an alternative choice (don't ask me why I didn't follow my own set of rules this year and get a honey baked ham). Now, I have no idea how I am going to go from this crazy oversized and uncooked bird, sealed plastic - and other delightful accoutrements tucked neatly inside - to something that will resemble this beautiful culinary masterpiece.
Let's hope the stars align and the turkey is moist.
