"Happiness is a perfume which you cannot pour on someone without getting some on yourself" ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Our big weekend project is Miss Olivia's bedroom and what a project it is. Her room has become the Bermuda Triangle - enter at your own risk! We decided she was due for a "big girl" dresser to help with the chaos - so a few weeks ago we made the hike to Ikea and selected one.
However, Marc and I keep walking by the box with the hopes that the other will be brave enough to tackle the project. Now of course that has yet to happen and school starts in a week - so last night our Mexican Standoff ended - we have agreed to do it together - don't worry, our marriage is strong and should weather assembling a piece of Ikea furniture. :)
Spread some happiness this weekend!

Not only am I a sucker for beautiful packaging, I also have a terrible weakness for chocolate - big surprise, I know!
The details of this design are smart, modern and delicious. I love the mixture of elements: the traditional wax seal with a little drippy chocolatey feel, the clean fonts combined with simple graphic elements and the navy and white stripe seal tie it all together to tell a perfectly sweet story.
Designed by student designer Mark Johnson from Savannah College Of Art And Design.
yum....

I just discovered alaparisienne on Etsy and my heart began to beat a wee bit faster as I viewed each beautifully crafted design. I have fallen head over heels for her handmade brooches with vintage millinery details, with a touch of tulle and a bit of sparkle.
In addition to her hand made collection, she has a lovely offering of pristine vintage handbags, gloves and scarves to add that perfect little touch we are always in search of.
All inspired by the most romantic city in the world - Paris!

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone for all the lovely and encouraging words during my "blue" period. Just hearing from all of you has inspired me more than you know. I love, love, love sharing art, ideas and little details about my life. My blog has become an important part of my creative process and I am so happy that there are people like you who take the time to visit.
Now that I am back in the saddle - what better way to celebrate than with my favorite color...

Are you ready? I'm ready!
So, what will I be up to this weekend?
Plenty! I'm very excited, I have a babysitter for tonight and will be enjoying a nice dinner with some old friends. A wonderful way to wrap up a busy week - I just love sitting around the dinner table (especially when someone else cooks) and enjoy a lovely glass of wine and really great conversation.
Keeping with the "Dinner & Friends" theme, we will be seeing another couple on Saturday - watch a movie and catch up. Doesn't it just sound wonderful? How about you, any big plans?
What ever they are, big or small - ENJOY!

I hate to admit this, but I have a case of the "blogging blues". Normally, I feel excited and energized in planning my posts, creating artwork, connecting with all my blogging friends and popping by FB a couple of times everyday to see what everyone is up to. But for the last couple of weeks, I don't seem to have anything interesting to write about - zip! I can only assume the diagnosis is a bad case of Blogging Blues. What is the cure? Is there a cure?
In case you are wondering what I have been doing in lieu of writing my blog - well, I have dismantled my fridge and spent two hours cleaning every nook and cranny. I have rid my pantry of pesky moths. I have filled two sketch books with new drawings (happy about this) Cut my hair, dyed my hair - not so happy about this) The list goes on, but I fear you may be nodding off.
But wait - don't. I must figure this out - has this happened to you? Maybe it is just part of the blogging process, maybe something really great and inspiring will come from the this - or not. Maybe my subconscious is trying to tell me to just chill! And it is only a blog - really!
Every blogging book, e-classes and newsletters that I have read screams to be authentic and write good content.
Authentic - yes, Good content - hmmmm.

The materials are beautiful - a white paper box, yellow and white handmade flowers, a vintage necklace with white glass beads that I picked up for $3.00 in a thrift shop, silver tipped vintage stamens to hold the flowers & beads together, finished with a yellow polka dot ribbon.
Open the box and surprise! More little flowers, a bright modern font to tie everything together.
This was one of those projects that I became completely obsessed in creating. The search for all the little vintage finds, taking apart the necklace and then trying to figure out how I was going to make the paper flowers and give them a three-demensional look.
So are you wondering how I made such perfect little blossoms?
I just recently purchased a Silhouette SD machine which comes with a library of designs to use with a PC. However, I have a MAC and I wanted to be able to use my designs - luckily they have a plugin for MAC to use with Adobe Illustrator. So I downloaded the plugin, hooked the Silhouette SD to my computer, drew the flower, sent it to be cut and voila`. Okay, it really wasn't that easy, I spent an entire Saturday trying to figure it out, but I think it was worth it, don't you?
