I often wonder about the art of blending styles in design; is it a calculated choice or is is simply selecting objects that are truly loved?  A gilded chair partnered with a modern Parsons table, or  a vintage crystal chandelier illuminating a post modern painting -  the juxtaposition of  styles is so beautiful and dramatic.  I love how you have the opportunity to see what the homeowner really loves to be around.

 

I would like to believe that if you really love something it will work as part of your design aesthetic and make your home you.  

So next time you happen to be at a flea market and spot the perfect gilded chair and it is upholstered in magenta velvet brocade - get it!  Think of the spectacular drama you will be infusing into your home.

{baroque meets sexy french boudoir}

I found myself completely mesmerized and inspired by the sumptuousness of Carl Bengtsson's fashion photography. I was particularly drawn to his lavish scenes which featured romantic pink tulle gowns and magnificent headpieces. This is exactly the kind of the opulence that made the Baroque period in history scream - look at me! 

This over-the-top bed from The French Bedroom Company has a very sexy French boudoir feeling - don't you think? You must visit the website, I promise you will not be disappointed. 

 

So there you have it, sexy French boudoir meets Baroque opulence or visa versa depending on how you look at it. The perfect source of inspiration for my little collection of stationery previewed here today. I plan on creating small note cards, embellished of course, and packaged in a swanky little box.

The Glamorous Life ~

Silvery damask wallpaper creates an elegant backdrop for the star of this glamorous room ~ this deliciously divine bed is the perfect place to catch up on some well deserved beauty sleep.

What a dreamy room ~ wake up every day to view your world through a rose colored glass. 

Or maybe surround yourself with luscious lipstick pink botanicals ~ I love the subtle 1950's feel.

 

 Hot pink stripe curtains and a white couch ~I would never want to leave this fabulous room!  Now, just imagine my five year old loose in here for three minutes or less...
